Immigration Procedures & Visa Fees


ADVISORY

FOR PERSONS TRAVELLING FROM COUNTRIES WHOSE PASSPORT HOLDERS REQUIRE A VISA TO ENTER GUYANA AND WHO MAY BE UNABLE TO APPLY AT ANY OF GUYANA’S MISSIONS OR CONSULATES, VISAS WILL BE ISSUED ON ARRIVAL. IN THIS REGARD, THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES ARE OFFERED:

CRITERIA FOR ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR VISAS ON ARRIVAL

Visitors

Visitor Visa on Arrival is issued to persons coming to Guyana for vacation or tourism purposes. The spouse or families of foreign nationals working in Guyana are issued with Visitor Visa on Arrival if they are accompanying him/her.

Persons coming to Guyana for short periods of time less than three (3) months and who are not coming to work are also issued with Visitor Visa on Arrival. (These may include attending meetings/workshops/seminars/events or religious functions; site visits to companies; conduct training; carry out maintenance on machineries purchased from foreign countries)

Visitor Visa are valid for three (3) months if it is a Single Entry Visa and for one (1) year if it a Multiple Entry Visa. The cost is five thousand one hundred and twenty five Guyana dollars ($5,125.00) or twenty five US Dollars (US $25.00)

  1. Two photographs, as well as name and address of inviter/sponsor to be provided on arrival;
  2. Name and address of hotel if visitor is a tourist;
  3. Letter of invitation from inviter/sponsor to be presented on arrival;
  4. Telephone number and/or e-mail address of inviter/sponsor and intended place of stay to be provided on arrival;
  5. Evidence of finances to cover expenses for 30 days to be provided on arrival;
  6. Applications will be rejected if the above criteria are not fulfilled;
  7. A maximum of two (2) Extensions of Stay will be grante Each Extension of Stay will be for a period of one (I) month.

 

Employment

The Employment Visa on Arrival is issued to persons coming to Guyana to take up employment with any local or foreign company based in Guyana.

Employment Visa are valid for three (3) years and the cost is twenty eight thousand, seven hundred Guyana dollars ($28,700.00) or one hundred and forty US Dollars (US $140.00)

These applications take four (4) weeks to process.

Approval to enter Guyana is based on the following:

  1. Name and address of sponsor/employer must be provided to the Ministry of Home Affairs for processing before the applicant arrives in Guyana;
  1. Telephone number, fax and/or e-mail address of sponsor/employer must be provided to Ministry of Home Affairs for processing before the applicant arrives in Guyana;
  1. Place of employment must be an established business and must be registered and be compliant with NIS and GRA rules/regulations;
  1. Name and address and gender of employee/person coming to work in Guyana must be presented to the Ministry of Home Affairs by the Employer prior to arrival;
  1. Approval to have Visa and Work Permit issued will be given to;
    1. Employer
    2. Immigration
  1. Visa on Arrival and Work Permit will be issued on arrival;
  1. Visas will be granted for a three (3) year period;

 

The application will be rejected if the above criteria are not fulfilled and the employer so notified, as well as Immigration.

Students

Students desirous of studying at any Universities in Guyana are issued with Student Visa on Arrival. For foreign nationals residing and working in Guyana or who owns a business and are bringing their child or children to remain with them throughout the duration of their stay, the child or children is/are issued with Student Visa once he/she is of age to attend school.

Student Visa are valid for three (3) years and the cost is twenty eight thousand, seven hundred Guyana dollars ($28,700) or one hundred and forty US Dollars (US $140.00)

  1. Name and address, telephone, fax numbers, e-mail address of the registered/accredited institution where studies will be done are to be provided to the Ministry of Home Affairs, prior to arrival of student;
  2. A copy of the student acceptance letter from the competent authority at the registered/accredited institution is to be provided directly by the school to the Ministry of Home Affairs, before the student arrives in Guyana;
  1. Address and phone numbers of the student’s intended place while in Guyana are to be provided to the Ministry of Home Affairs, by registered/accredited Institution;
  1. Evidence of financial support is to be provided to the Ministry of Home Affairs;
  1. Student visas will be issued on arrival, and student and the school so notified;
  1. Applications will be rejected if the above criteria are not fulfilled, and the authorities of the registered/accredited institution will be notified;
  1. Visas will be granted for a three (3) year period;

 

Business Persons

The Business Visa on Arrival is issued to persons who are desirous of establishing a business in Guyana. It is also issued to persons who are coming to Guyana for business purposes such as to attend meetings or train staff in use of the machineries purchases from foreign countries.

Overseas Missionaries coming to Guyana for voluntary services are also issued with Business Visa.

Business Visa are valid for five(5) years and the cost is twenty eight thousand, seven hundred Guyana Dollars ($28,700.00) or one hundred and forty US Dollars ($140.00)

  1. Name of Company, name of representative, nature of business  and address of business contact (s) in Guyana are to be provided to Ministry of Home Affairs, before travelling to Guyana;
  1. Address and telephone number of intended place of stay, while in Guyana are to be provided to Ministry of Home Affairs;
  1. Name of Company and name of representative are to be provided;

OR

  1. Contact information of the sponsor/mentor to be provided to Ministry of Home Affairs;
  1. Contact information about place of stay is to be provided;
  1. Evidence from home country of business credentials is to be provided;
  1. Applications will be rejected if the above conditions are not fulfille
  1. Visas will be granted for a five (5) year period;
